Basically I live in Eastern Canada. It's cold. There's nothing I can do about the cold. I complain everyday about how cold it is and begrudgingly drag my feet to class. This whole winter has been miserable for everyone. We haven't been in the positives since late November, I swear. The weather dips between warm and then freezing cold. It snows every other week. Or everyday. I can't tell anymore, there's snow everywhere and I'm sick of it. As a result, I end up dressing like this:
or this:
Another commonality? Double layered top. I'm actually wearing an American Apparel cardigan (an older style that is no longer sold) underneath the Topshop knitted cardigan. Mainly because knit irritates my skin, but also for warmth. I'm probably wearing some random t-shirt underneath the crewneck (bought on Gmarket). Everything needs to be double layered.
I'm also actually wearing two pairs of socks too. On the timberlands, I'm wearing a pair of high socks with ankle socks because they don't actually fit and the added thickness helps with the ceasing of pain in my feet that somehow comes from wearing these shoes. On the hunter boots, I'm wearing a thin pair of ankle socks with the hunter socks. Keeps my toes from freezing off.
I do not look fashionable at all. I literally look like some sort of casual slob everyday but I've basically given up on fashion by now. I need to be warm. It's way too cold here! The Eastern Canada life is clearly not for me :(
As for outerwear? I look like this every single day:
(Blurred out the person I'm sitting next to on the subway for privacy reasons) |
Anyways. The point of this post... doesn't exist. I don't know how to do petite winter fashion in a way that would make me look taller, more "attractive", and whatever. I'm trying to survive and stay warm in shitty weather. I can't wear heels, because I walk everywhere and the slush/snow everywhere would absolutely kill me and my heels. I can't wear tights and skirts because the wind would cause me to flash everyone (probably) and the wind would kill my skin underneath the tights.
Basically if you wanna look fashionable, don't come here unless you've got a car that will transport you everywhere without having to go outside into the bitter cold.
